Captain Jamie Holcombe
For nearly two decades, Captain Jamie Holcombe has worked exclusively as a professional captain and mate aboard luxury sportfishing boats. He has traveled from New England to Key West, to the Bahamas, Mexico, Bermuda and through the Panama Canal to the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. Along the way, Captain Jamie learned many different fishing techniques and has fished with both novice anglers and top-notch, award-winning anglers. Whatever level of fishing you feel you are at, Captain Jamie can ensure you have a great day of fishing aboard The Gryphon. Captain Jamie has spent his entire life on the water, enjoying fishing trips with his father as a young boy.
Jamie’s fishing expertise and friendly nature combined with the boat’s amenities offer a fishing charter set apart from the average fishing charter business – especially compared to similarly-priced competition in the Charleston market. A licensed boat captain by the United States Coast Guard, Captain Jamie carries a 150-ton master license. Not only is he experienced in the fishing aspect of his job, he also has extensive experience with the mechanics of a boat, as well as the tackle and supplies needed to run a successful operation.
Captain Jamie resides in Mount Pleasant with his wife Jessica and their three children, David, Hannah and Hudson. During the summer months, some charters may enjoy Jamie’s oldest son David helping out on the boat. David is a natural fisherman and thoroughly enjoys helping his dad by being his first-mate.
Whether he is taking guests out fishing for Blue Marlin in the Gulf Stream or cruising around historic Charleston Harbor, Captain Jamie is dedicated to providing a memorable experience for all.

- Bring a cooler for your food and drinks and you’ll have something to carry your fish home in.
- Motion sick medicines may vary, some people like Dramamine or some prefer the patch behind the ear (The Travel Patch) check with your doctor and please read the directions.

If You'd Like To Leave Your Captain A Tip Or Make A Deposit –
Our captains are working hard to make sure that you have a great adventure on the water. If you feel like your captain did a great job for you today, please let him know. Gratuity is not included in our pricing. A tip of 15-20% is customary and appreciated.

This vessel carry’s federal and state fishery licenses that cover everyone on board. Federal and state laws and regulations will be observed and apply to everyone on board.
GRYPHON SPORTFISHING CANCELLATION POLICY
We collect a 25% deposit to reserve your date and time slot. This deposit is non-refundable unless the fishing trip is canceled by the Captain due to bad weather or unforeseen boat problems. This cancellation is made at the dock on the day of the trip, only at the Captain's discretion. All other cancellations forfeit the 25% deposit.
Our booking policy is to meet at the boat at the agreed time and place on the day of the trip. If the fishing trip is canceled by the Captain due to bad weather, we will try to rebook your fishing trip for a better day if the customer's schedule allows, otherwise we will cheerfully refund your entire 25% deposit.
Cancellations by customers with less than a 48-hour phone call notice and no-shows at the dock by customers on the day of the fishing trip will be charged to their credit card the full amount of the length charter slot they have reserved. When you reserve a fishing trip, we do not book anyone else for that time slot.
